Yeah mannn... Back from OB SABAH!!! It was a wonderful experience and a great discovery i found out... Those 12 days was really memorable... My group members were the best!
LOVE them loads... the 1st day was pretty dull actually... The group wasn't even formed yet... The 2nd day was when the group was formed... After our morning exercise where we had to run at the beach... After the run, I was given the number 2 so, I'm in group 2... The first impression of my group members was like OH MY GOD?! they're my group members?! *sigh* gonna be pretty dull =/ but it turns out unexpectedly of coz *grinz*
Settle admin stuff at first... Surrender hp, passport, personal belongings n etc... Followed by introducing ourself to the group... Everyone was extremely quiet... It's totally mix of boys and gals... From different cca's n different schools... There are a total of 12 of us... Including me of coz... They're 8 guys and 4 gals... Kenny, Jasper, Wei Heng, Daniel, Jun Cheng a.k.a Joseph, Antony, Samuel, ricky, Yin Ru, Valerie, me, Farah... Well, most of the time, it's the guys one side, the gals one side... Hardly mix... But as we get along n as the days passed, the ice between us all broke n we've got no other choice but to work together...
We went sailing together n Joseph was our captain... The journey was okay for me coz I did start talking n kenny, jasper was already sharing their stories... Daniel and wei heng was also talking... Some others were oready seasick... The instructors that was with us was Ira, Rechel, Alex... Alex did most of the talking... He touch quite alot on the relationship part... When I'm being asked, I simply shut it up... My reply was "must i answer the question?" Den followed by silence... Daniel than spoke up for me... "Err... I dun think she have one... Coz everytime see her in sch she's busy with her art... Then like got no guys around her..." My reply was "Really? Well, even if i'm in one, it won't be obvious" Seriously, why should it be known to everyone when it's best to let it be? =P hehe...
Upon reaching Dinawan island, we help each other out... Gathered all backpacks together, lifejackets, jerri cans, paddles n many other stuff... The guys pitch the tent... some of them find wood, start fire... Some of the gals were slacking... Seeing the food ration, n the gals were like hesitating, I start to work on the onions n other ingredients like the chicken... After the guys pitch the tent n all, they started to give the eye power... Ouh my! It's really difficult to work when they're so many pairs of eyes supervising you... Marinate the chicken once i've done... Start to fry the onions and all... Then, cook the rice... Some of them had their dinner first while i continued to cook... The guys love the chicken n it felt glad! Still, the instructors came to help... I did my prayers n then have my dinner under the bright moonlight... Its a full moon!!! It's really gorgeous! And there's stars too...
After dinner, we clean the area, wash our pots n waited for our instructors for our first briefing... Briefing was okay... We all than decide not to sleep but instead... Share ghost stories... With the fire burning right infront of us... After that, went back in the tent n get some sleep... A few hours later, some fly came buzzing in my ear n disturb my sleep... Got out of my tent n my group is gathering near the fire again... Share stories n then we went to the beach... Sat at the log there... Share stories again till we grew tired... Most of us sat there n fall asleep on the log... We had to do our sentary duties but we ended sitting at the beach n admiring the scenery in front of us... I was holding onto my camera at that time n my head kept on nodding... Till i suddenly off balance n let go of my camera... Quickly, i got up n get my camera... Jasper who was beside me was giving me the weird look n asking whether i'm okay XD hehe... Was a lil embarrassing though... Luckily it's only him who notice n_n
Next morning, get up n pack our stuff... Going back to our campsite... Had a great time taking pictures of our group together... And jasper even draw this bikini babe which looks hilarious and got our groupname on top of it... Took pic of it... the other group doesn't seem to have as much fun as us coz we can see it from their expressions... Set off from our sailing... We went 2nd but didn't sail much but row more... Row all the way back to the campsite n that's when our group began to motivate each other... We speed up n overtake the group which was infront of us... The bond's getting stronger n nobody seems to be sea sick... Reached the campsite n clear off everything...
We did a poster of our group n it turned out rather nice coz it's designed by urs truly ^-^ hehe... No la... It's actually the group's effort... Set off for jungle expedition when done with the briefing n packing of stuff... Quickly make new friends like farhana n some others... We walk there with heavy rucksacks on our backs... There were steep slopes n the guys didn't mind giving a helping hand to gals who needed help... when we arrive at the jungle, seems like a nice place to stay n Rachel was rather in a high mood... Making the rest of us go crazy too... Till someone even mentioned "whoose eggs" when rachel said got eggs >.<>
After dinner, we clean up n then have another briefing... Seems much more fun coz the group's really been opening up n helping n giving more of each other... So, briefing was well done n we gathered in our tents n just talk about any random topic... Talk about our ambition, relationships... What kind of gal/guy we're looking for... Those kind of topic where we open up more to each other n get to know others better... Once when we ran out of topic, we went to sleep... Daniel n some others claimed that they saw something at nite outside the tents... Weird... early morning when we wake up, it's been rather cold... have to cook for lunch n all... a few guys went to take water... The rest of us help to unpitch tent n all... Soon after that we call on our instructors n make our way to the next campsite...
Next campsite was a lil bit more challenging coz have to cross rivers which got big n small rocks... I did slipped n fell into the water n was covered in bruises =/ guess it's worth it coz we had loads of fun splashing water at each other when Jasper suggested of a game... Passing a thing around n when Valerie said stop n the person holding on the thing will get splashed... Luck's on my side coz I hardly get splashed... Seriously, i feel so much fun with my group for the very first time... the stream was cold n everyone looked so joyful n enjoying each other's company... Soon, it's time to stop n we gotta prepare dinner... It gets dark very quickly n we soon settle dinner... Our instructors briefed us n den we washed our containers n pots... Next morning, we cleared up n get ready to head back to our next destination which was the village...
Had a great time at the village, man... Learnt new cultures, cook traditional food... Fish head curry seems really nice... Everyone worked together in the kitchen... Had lunch n then we prepared a skit... It's about war n japenese occupation n all... Also, got sang Nila utama... I become the translator... We walk at the village n found another group... Found our friends n then we start our conversation... Stayed at the village n watch tom n jerry... @ times, feeling that there's a pair of eyes staring at my direction... Those difficult expressions which is really hard to read... sometimes, caught that person smiling but other times, the expressionless look... Went back to our village, prepare dinner, serve the villagers n head back to the other group's place... Had our performance n the ppl there show a dance which was really interesting... Had a great time there n the kids are really energetic man... Still remembered the name of the place is jln punson, i think... the other group sang songs... Then, we played musical instruments n then got this bamboo we had to jump on... Really cool thing... I didn't go for it coz I just dun feel like it XD hehe...
Went back to the village n had our rest there but before that, i had a cold bath at nite... Ate a chicken n then off i went for my rest... Had a good sleep n woke up the next morning for my prayers... Headed back to the campsite... Was briefed about the attire for mt kinabalu... And also the places we'll be going... Didn't buy much souveniers coz not enough $$$$... Went to stay at the resort n it was a cool place... the temperature was like in new zealand n i'm rather used to it so, it's fine with me... Group one n 2 on duty for lunch n i'm needed in the kitchen again... So, prepare chicken soup n fry egg with cabbage n carrot... After dinner, took pic with group... Jasper's trademark seems to scare me off... It'll be "BOO" n then see my reaction whether i'm scared or not =.= Hand over our souveniers to Kenny n then off we go to sleep... Didn't forget my prayers...
Next day, we head towards another place to stay... Quite a distance to walk n we rest at huts along the way... Had dinner at the restaurant there... Some of us played scrabble when we reach there... After that, we ate... It's a buffet... After that, went for a 10 minute walk to the place where we'll be staying... It's getting colder n colder by then... Wearing thermal wear also doesn't seem to keep me warm coz it feels rather cold... Till i wake up in the middle of the nite n can't control myself letting it out on the bed ^-^ hehe... Woke up at around 1 plus n was ready to climb mt kinabalu... Was rather scared @ first but began to have courage when seeing the faces of my group members... Brought my 3 in 1 torchlight... Consists of first aid kit, radio n the torch itself... It's rather tough when climbing the mountain but it's not impossible... With the encouragement from friends, we all made it to the top... The mountain guide was also professional... When everyone seems to be rather tired n needed entertainment, i switched on the radio n tuned it... Surprisingly, while climbing the mountain, the reception was rather good n listen to some songs... It's getting colder n colder n we paused to take some rest but not for too long... Our group continued to strive on n perservered... All of us made it to the top n reached as a group together... Seems awweeesssssooommmeeee!!!! the view's really beyond words can describe... GOD's creation is really unexpected... I did manage to reach the peak of mt kinabalu!!!!! =DDDD it's really a great achievement... Didn't take much pic up there... saw the sun rise...
The going down part was rather scary... Luckily, the mountain guide help me... He hold onto my hand n walk with me... Phew! I gathered all the strength i had left n went down... Climbing down seems to take such a shorter period of time... had breakfast afer that... Packed our stuff n then headed back to the campsite... Time really flies n our group is like family oready... We did another skit... Telling everyone about our 12 days experience in OBS Sabah... then, had our presentation of certificate... I was being labelled as "Chef cook" by Ira, my instructor... Then a few december birthday ppl were called out... The instructors really turn it into suspense... Coz ira mentioned about them gonna be punished but it turned out as us singing for them a birthday song... That's realllllyyy sweeettt n_n
Had a briefing n last words from the instructors... It's sad to part but every beginning definitely has it's ending n every ending has a new beginning... Was sent to the airport... the flight was delayed till 11 plus... So, windowshopped a while n then had kfc there... Soon, everyone hugged n waved goodbyees to the instructors... It's sad to part but what to do... There's always enough hello's to wish enough goodbye's... After that, we're oready in the plane n then took a bus... The custom ppl stamp our passport n then headed to ecc... from there, parents all waited for us... Met muchsin n he briefed us a bit n we're all given a badge coz now, we're officially OUTWARD BOUNDERS *grinz* hehe...
Headed back home with body aching everywhere =/ still, it's worth the discovery n memorably journey... Slept in the morning n next day... get my n level results... GOD bless me, i'm promoted next year... Gonna give my best shot next year... BRING IT ON!!!! if mount kinabalu is a piece of rock that i can conquer, definitely i'll do the same for my studies...
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to HORNBILLS for the memorable journey n good times we had together... thanks for all the encouragement n support coz without it, we weould never encounter such possibilities to climb mt kinabalu not as an individual but a team *winkz* thanks guys! love you all loads!!!! =DDD Hopefully we'll keep in touch n the bond that we share lasts forever...
